Bahasa Indonesia is a form of Malay which became standardized in 1945 when it was adopted as the official language of the newly independent Indonesia. The language has always been open to the many linguistic traditions of the country borrowing words from many of the other Indonesian dialects, as well as Dutch, Arabic and English.Therefore, this study suggests that the Indonesian linguistic ecology where Bahasa Indonesia and English co-exist with the hundreds of local languages should be taken into consideration in the
